Inspiration:

This piece was born at a time when ‘Renewal’ had been completed and moulded, during cold, windy, autumnal days in my old studio. I wanted my figure to show strength this time and enjoyed remodelling over what was left of ‘Renewal’. I got the stance quite quickly and then began thinking about how the hair and dress would behave. This sculpture was really the first one to have leaves all over the figure.

Gales blow, blustering by,
and there she stands, caught in leafy blast,
embodying nature, Autumn’s best,
each steadfast in their defiant quest.
