Inspiration:

It was inevitable I would sculpt a figure based on winter, having shed most of those autumn leaves. It was a fun sculpture to create, getting my assistant at the time, Lucy, to puff her cheeks out as reference for the face. Then, on a bitingly cold, windy trip in Reykjavik, Iceland, my wife, Sarina, stood in the pose, albeit, wrapped in a thick coat, rather than a thin dress of bare branches.

Winds rush, a biting chill,
Nature strips, lattices exposed.
Winter faced,  preserving warmth,
onwards and defiant…new growth will come.
