'SWANSCOMBE SCULPTURE' (2004)

  • Resin scale model for bronze and resin design
  • Approx height of proposed sculpt: 4m

In 2004, I won a competion to produce a sculpture to mark where the earliest human remains were found in Britain, as part of the regeneration of the area in Swanscombe Heritage Park, Kent. The design was based on the stone flint heads also found in the area, together with an idea of how the inhabitants of the area might have looked 250,000 years ago. This was placed on a column with bas-relief illustrations about the history and findings at the site.

Unfortunately, the sculpture never progressed from the maquette to final sculpt.
